Internships

International internships build a global perspective while gaining professional experience.

IU and IUI offer a variety of international internships that award credit.  Many of the programs include classroom based courses in addition to the internship.  We encourage you to talk with your academic advisor to ensure that the internship structure will meet any internship requirement for your major.  Required internship hours vary depending on the program.

Academic and professional internships allow you to achieve personal goals, identify your strengths, and apply your classroom knowledge to the professional world.

Don’t see what you are looking for in an IU program?

Some students will explore opportunities outside of IU if they don’t find an internship that fits their professional and personal goals.  IU Office of Overseas Study has created this vetting guide that will help you determine if the program has the appropriate structures in place for you to be successful abroad.  IIEpassport.org can be a good resources as you explore programs outside IU.  As an IUI student, you can also use GoinGlobal to explore country specific employment information. Once you identify a program you will need to work with our office to have your non-IU experience approved for credit.
